Kerala Tourism Bags PATA Gold Awards

Published in Newsletter Issue No. 275 - July 2016

Kerala Tourism has added to its kitty two Gold Awards at the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) awards for its trendsetting marketing initiatives which have secured the state its position as a must-visit destination.

The award which bears two gold gongs was clinched by the ‘Visit Kerala’ television commercial campaign and the popular Kerala Tourism e-newsletter in the ‘Travel Advertisement Broadcast Media’ and ‘e-newsletter’ category. This is the fourth time Kerala Tourism is being bestowed the PATA awards for its e-newsletter.

Mr. A. C. Moideen, Minister for Tourism, Kerala has said that winning the two awards was a tremendous feat. “It reflects the success Kerala Tourism’s cutting-edge marketing techniques have had in elevating the state into the top-tier of coveted destinations for the inbound tourism market,” he said.

“Since our marketing campaigns are created and executed from a keen understanding of the unique appeal that ‘God’s Own Country’ holds for tourists, they will undoubtedly have a positive impact and bring the state more such honours,” said Dr.Venu V., Principal Secretary, Kerala Tourism.

Mr. U.V. Jose, Director, Kerala Tourism said that the awards were a testament to the successful branding of the state. “With today’s travellers always seeking out new experiences, these awards will only help augment Kerala’s destination pull,” he said.

The recent achievement by Kerala Tourism follows a slew of such recognitions at the PATA awards. Earlier the state had received the PATA CEO Challenge 2015 award for being the top emerging destination in the world. Kerala Tourism was awarded the PATA Gold in the Heritage and Culture category for the Muziris Heritage Project last year.

The Visit Kerala commercials were conceptualised and scripted by Stark Communications, Kerala Tourism’s creative and brand management agency while the Kerala Tourism e-newsletter was designed by Invis Multimedia, the IT solutions provider of Kerala Tourism.

The awards will be presented at the PATA Gold Awards Luncheon and Presentation on 9th September 2016 in Jakarta, Indonesia. This year, as many as 212 entries from 71 organisations and individuals from across the world competed for the coveted awards.
