In a move to make the Veli Tourist Village in Thiruvananthapuram more attractive to travellers and develop it as a prominent tourist destination, Kerala Tourism has come up with a slew of projects to give it a major makeover and develop it in line with international standards. The destination will be equipped with a host of recreational facilities and necessary amenities and facilities for tourists.
The floating restaurant which was one of the key attractions in Veli will be repaired and renovated. Existing facilities at the village including the water sports arena and cruise ride under the Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC) will be improved. An amphitheatre to conduct programmes, snack bars, water theme parks, fountains, a swimming pool for children, comfort stations, a money exchange center for travellers, an ATM counter, cloak rooms and so on figure in the list of the proposed amenities. The area will be developed in an eco-friendly manner. The Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB) will be responsible for all new developmental works being undertaken in Veli.
