State to Chalk Out a Fresh Comprehensive Policy
In a bid to give a boost to domestic and foreign tourist arrivals in the state, the government is all set to formulate a new comprehensive tourism policy which will address all the aspects pertaining to the tourism sector. Further a slew of tourism development plans are also on the anvil. The responsible tourism initiative will be expanded to all tourism destinations in the State and focus will be given for tourism infrastructure development.
Mr. Kadakampally Surendran, Minister for Tourism, Government of Kerala, made these announcements while responding to queries in the Assembly. An administrative sanction has been given for river cruise tourism across the nine rivers in Kannur and Kasaragod. Thalassery and Alappuzha heritage conservation schemes are envisaged to be launched soon.
Adventure parks have been proposed in Upper Sanatorium in Ponmudi, Wayanad and Kottakal in Malappuram. Crafts villages would be set up in Dharmadom and Kozhikode and focus will be given to develop adventure tourism projects.
Other projects announced by the Minister include the master plan for Ashtamudi and Nedumangad destinations, Kalady-Malayattoor tourism circuit, construction and renovation of blocks in State guest houses, among others.
