Kayaking Championship Concludes
Kayakers Will Hand of New Zealand and Giulia Zagnoni of Italy have been bestowed with the titles ‘Rapid Raja’ and ‘Rapid Rani’ respectively in the recently concluded International White Water Kayaking Championship 2017.
The fifth edition of the kayaking championship hosted by Kerala Tourism in Kozhikode saw active participation of Kayakers from across the world. The high spirited championship saw as many as 100 contestants battling it out in the waters.
Winners of the freestyle, intermediate and pro categories were felicitated at the event. The titles were conferred at a valedictory function at Pulikkayam in Kodenchery.
The competitions which began on July 20 were held in the waters of Chalippuzha in Kodenchery grama panchayat, Kuttiyady river in Chakkittapara grama panchayat and Iruvazhinji river in Thiruvambady grama panchayat.
The kayaking championship held as part of the Malabar River Festival 2017 was organised by Kerala Tourism, District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC), Kozhikode and Kozhikode District Panchayat along with support of Madras Fun Tools and Kerala Kayak Academy.
The next edition of the kayaking championship is slated to begin on July 18, 2018.
