The Akkulam Tourist Village which figures among one of the most prominent tourist destinations in the district is all set to get a makeover. Mr. Kadakampally Surendran, Minister for Tourism, Kerala, has inaugurated the work for the second phase of the Tourist Village project.
At a budget of around Rs. 50 million, the second phase aims to turn the Village into an activity centre with facilities for visitors to spend a whole day.
“The government is planning to formulate a tourism policy that will better the lives of local residents as well,” said the Minister.
The second phase will witness the Village sport a modern music fountain, artificial waterfall, amphitheatre, art installation, cycling track, ropeway, restaurant, parking area, and a yoga and meditation centre. Adventure tourism and landscape beautification are also part of the project.
