Kerala Tourism is all geared up to celebrate Onam, the state festival, with much grandeur and has come up with a slew of programmes. The week-long festivities will start on September 3 in all the 14 districts of the State. The celebrations will draw to a close on September 9 with a grand pageantry in Thiruvananthapuram.
The inauguration of this annual fete will be held in the capital city at the Nishagandhi auditorium on the Kanakakunnu palace premises. A total of 30 venues in the city and suburbs have been selected for the conduct of the festivities.
An amount of Rs. 52.5 million has been sanctioned by the state government towards this end. It has also been decided to follow Green protocol, which bans the use of plastic, during the celebrations.
