Parliamentary Standing Committee headed by Mr. K. C. Venugopal, Member of Parliament, visited Munnar and discussed with the representatives of Kerala Tourism and Kerala Travel Mart (KTM) Society the issues faced by the tourism industry in Kerala.
Apart from a detailed discussion on Swadesh Darshan project, the committee discussed various topics such as the demand for more flight services, need of infrastructure development, issues faced by tourists from Saudi Arabia for getting Visa and so on.
Ms. Meenakshi Sharma, Additional Director General, India Tourism, Mr. Sanjay Srivatsav, Regional Director, India Tourism, Dr. Venu V. IAS, Principal Secretary, Kerala Tourism, and Mr. P. Bala Kiran IAS, Director, Kerala Tourism were present.
The committee also visited the Eravikulam National Park, Tata Tea Museum and Srishti Welfare Initiative by Tata Beverages Ltd. for the differently abled. Mr. Abraham George, President, KTM Society, representatives of house boat and homestay owners and the tourism investors in Thekkadi and Munnar visited the committee.
