Ponmudi and Veli to be Beautified
Ponmudi and Veli, which figures among the major tourist attractions of the capital city, is all set to get a makeover with the setting up of a host of recreational and infrastructure facilities.
Around Rs. 20.7 million shall be spent in giving a facelift to lower sanatorium in Ponmudi. Tree houses, bamboo huts, sculptures and a landscaped garden figure in the project. Water fountain, adventure park, tree top viewing point, bus shelter and parking lots are other facilities that will be set up.
Further, Kerala Tourism has also sought permission from the Forest Department to launch adventure-oriented activities in the Kallar-Ponmudi stretch.
Around Rs. 24.7 million shall be utilised for the development work on the park and swimming pool in Veli. A water treatment plant, snack bar, parking slots and ticket counter will be built.
The State government has given administrative sanction for the two projects.
