Published in Newsletter Issue No. 323 - July 2020

The vibrant history of the 17th century Bekal Fort will come live with a Sound-and-Light Show soon. Kerala Tourism is all ready with this exquisite extravaganza in the key-hole shaped sea-side fort in Kasaragod.  It will trace the history behind the setting up of the fort and the many adventurous and thrilling tales entwined with the fort, following its construction.

All the preparation work for the mega entertainment programme has been completed and, come September, the start of the tourist season, the show will be kickstarted. The sound-and-light show is set to be an educational and entertainment programme. The laser show will be projected onto the huge wall of the fort and will last around 25 minutes.

The bi-lingual show will be held at night at the fort where laser lighting will set the ambience for narrating the interesting lore behind the setting up of the fort and the events succeeding it. "Bekal is the biggest and the most well-preserved fort in Kerala. There are many poignant moments in history linked to the fort. All works have been completed and a trial run will be conducted soon. This will then be opened to the public in September, and will be dedicated as an Onam gift to the people," says Mr. Biju R., Secretary, DTPC, Kasaragod.
