Published in Newsletter Issue No. 327 - November 2020

In its attempt to reach out to potential travellers across the world and draw their attention to Kerala, Kerala Tourism is gearing up to hold an international culinary contest. Titled “Kerala Cuisine Contest 2020 (KCC2020), International Online Cooking Competition,” the contest is open to everyone except those of Kerala origin, and challenges the participants to prepare a Kerala dish. Themed on 'Embrace Kerala in Your Kitchen,' the contest is centred around how well the elements of Kerala’s traditional culinary styles can be implemented to create healthy and tasty dishes. The contest solicits cooking videos from the participants.

Kerala, globally renowned as the God’s Own Country, is celebrated for its eclectic culinary styles and openness to new trends in cuisine. The international online cooking competition is a unique campaign aimed at inviting travellers and potential tourists across the globe to experience Kerala's delicacies and prepare them in their own kitchens.

Over 100 videos of traditional, easy-to-follow vegetarian and non-vegetarian Kerala recipes are being shared on the official website of Kerala Tourism. Registered participants are expected to shoot a video which will feature their preparing a Kerala dish at home, drawing inspiration from any of the shared recipe videos. The contest which will begin in November 2020 is open to all Non-Keralites residing outside Kerala, within India and abroad, and will conclude in April 2021. Each candidate can upload a maximum of five videos, one each on five different recipes. The evaluation of entries will be done mainly on the basis of how well the participants bring in the elements of Kerala’s traditional culinary styles in their video presentation. The winners will win a trip to Kerala, along with their families, all expenses covered.
