Kerala Tourism Gets Rs. 100 crore for Tourism Marketing
An amount of Rs. 100 crore has been allotted to the tourism sector for its marketing campaigns in view of the damage the industry suffered due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The allocation was announced in the Kerala budget which was tabled by the Finance Minister Mr. T. M. Thomas Isaac recently. The minister mentioned the need to restart the Munnar railway route to increase tourist footfalls. About Rs. 117 crore has been allocated for the beautification of certain popular tourist destinations in Kerala, and Rs. 25 crore for the renovation of tourist guest houses. An amount of Rs. 13 crore has been set apart for the preservation of heritage centres and artefacts in the state. The KTDC and tourism hospitality institutions have been given Rs. 10 crore each.
