KTDC to Upgrade Online Booking System of Hotels by Month-End: Minister

Published in Newsletter Issue No. 335 - July 2021

The online booking system of the hotels and resorts under the Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC) will be upgraded to facilitate quick and hassle-free booking of rooms from anywhere in the world.

The upgrading, through Channel Manager software, is the first major step to connect the properties of the KTDC to global tourism networks, Tourism Minister Mr. P. A. Mohammed Riyas said. The system will connect the KTDC hotels and resorts with major booking websites like Booking.com, Agoda and Indian booking portals such as Make My Trip, Goibibo and IRCTC of the Indian Railways.

The upgrading will give the KTDC hotels and resorts better visibility globally, Mr. Riyas said, after visiting Hotel Mascot and Hotel Grand Chaithram of the KTDC in Thiruvananthapuram to take stock of the renovation works there. The minister reviewed the various works, including the renovation of the rooftop restaurant and Heritage Block of the over-a-century-old Hotel Mascot, and the restaurant, rooms and conference hall of Hotel Grand Chaithram.

“The ongoing projects will raise the comfort and quality of services of these hotels to international standards,” Mr. Riyas said after discussions with the Tourism Director and KTDC MD Mr. V. R. Krishna Teja IAS and senior officials.

The quality and choice of dishes served at the KTDC restaurants will be improved by including local delicacies in their menu, making the food appealing to local patrons as well as tourists from elsewhere.
