Minister Lays Foundation for Tourism Bhavan

Kerala Tourism Minister Mr. Kadakampally Surendran has laid the foundation for the Rs 37.5 crore Tourism Bhavan to be built in the premises of the State Guest House, Thycaud in the capital. The work on the Rs 22.5 crore project to build an Additional Block at the State Guest House, besides carrying out massive renovation on the existing building, was also launched during the event.

The Tourism Bhavan will bring offices of all subsidiary wings of the Tourism Department under one roof. It will accommodate offices of Kerala Tourism Infrastructure Ltd (KTIL); Food Craft Institute Directorate; Eco Tourism Directorate; Thenmala Eco-Tourism Promotion Society and other agencies. 

The Minister also presented the ISO Certification secured by four government guest houses and their restaurants. The government guest houses at Ernakulam, Kollam, Kannur and Sulthan Bathery secured the certification.

The Minister said the state aims at securing ISO certification for all government guest houses by March 15 this year by improving their facilities and quality of service to match world standards. All the guest houses have completed the necessary formalities by improving their facilities and quality of service to match national standards and are awaiting the final audit team’s visit, he added.
