Floating Bridge comes up at Beypore

Tourists visiting the Beypore Marina Beach can now ‘float’ over the waves as a floating bridge has been set up at the beach for those who want a dose of adventure. The District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC), along with Chalakudy Capture Days Adventure Tourism and Water Sports and ports department has constructed the bridge.

With a length of 100 metres and a width of 3 metres, the bridge offers tourists a unique experience. The bridge is made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) blocks which float on the water. As many as 1,300 HDPE blocks, each weighing 7kg, were used to build the bridge.

There are railings on the sides for people to hold in order to prevent them from falling. The bridge has been strengthened with the support of 31 anchors weighing 100kg. The bridge will rise and fall according to the intensity of the waves. Even if the bridge can carry 500 people at a time, only 50 people with life jackets are allowed now. There is a 15-metre wide platform at the end of the bridge for tourists to enjoy the scenic beauty while floating on the sea.
