Kuriyottumala Farm in Kollam becomes Tourist Hotspot
With exotic breeds, a children’s park, gardens and animal sculptures spread across 106 acres, Kuriyottumala has become a major tourist hotspot in Kollam district. Located around 45 km from Kollam town at Punalur, the government hi-tech dairy farm offers a hands-on farm experience to tourists, and visitors can even stay in cottages and huts to see the rare collections and enjoy experiences of a lifetime.
A venture of Kollam district panchayat and Department of Animal Husbandry, the farm houses flightless birds (like ostrich and emu), along with different breeds of goats and cows, horses and rabbits. A landscaped garden, children’s park and animal sculptures add to the beauty of the place.
An animal museum, a display of South American parrots, coracle boating and a ropeway are among the attractions that will be added to the farm located at a scenic location.
