Kerala Tourism launches Drive for Women Travellers

Kerala Tourism has launched a project that encourages women to take out their bikes and explore the world. The project named ‘Swathanthra Yatrika’ (Independent Woman Traveller) started on an experimental basis at Beypore, in association with the World of Women group.

A motorcycle riders’ group comprising 30 women explored the possibility of a pilgrim circuit and other attractive destinations in the Kozhikode district by motorbike ride under the scheme.  The ride started from Gotheeswaram beach and passed through Beypore beach, Chaliyam breakwater, Puzhakkara Palli, Kadalundi Kadavu bridge, Kadalundi bird sanctuary and mangrove forest, Kottakadavu estuary and Calvari Church.

The minister said they have plans to expand the Swathantra Yathrika project across the state in the near future. He said Kerala is a haven for solo women travellers in India.
