Kerala’s First Caravan Park comes up at Wagamon

The Tourism Minister Mr P. A. Mohamed Riyas has inaugurated the first caravan park in Kerala at Wagamon.

The caravan park, named Caravan Meadows, came up in Nallathanni on Wagamon-Elappara Road, and is a project by ADRAK Group. The parking lot has facilities for preparing food and conducting campfires.  It also has benches where tourists can take rest. Apart from having electric points, the park has facilities for filling up water and handling waste.

The Tourism Minister Mr Riyas said caravan tourism, named ‘Keravan Kerala,’ has received a warm response from organizations and individuals. Around 353 caravans will be introduced, and 120 caravan parks will be set up in the state. The caravan project is launched in association with private partners, and subsidies will be provided to entrepreneurs, the minister said.

Caravan tourism introduced at Wagamon is aimed at tapping the tourism potential of unexplored tourism spots in the area as well. Also, caravan tourism suits the topography of Idukki, he said.

Mr Dean Kuriakose, MP, said the caravan tourism is expected to enhance the tourism potential of Idukki district. Mr Vazhoor Soman, MLA, and Kerala Tourism Director Mr V. R. Krishna Teja were among those who attended the launch.

Air-conditioned caravans have all the necessary amenities for a comfortable stay such as sofa-cum-bed, TV, kitchenette with fridge and microwave oven, induction heater, cupboards, dining table, toilets and internet connectivity.
