Kerala’s District Tourism Promotion Councils’ websites get a new facelift

The Kerala Tourism Minister Shri P. A. Mohamed Riyas launched the revamped websites of all the 14 District Tourism Promotion Councils (DTPCs) in Kerala on August 23. The newly updated websites will enable visitors to easily organise their vacation, and provide all the information about tourist spots around the state. To make them more appealing, it has a video banner that highlights the important destinations in each district.

While addressing the audience, the minister said that it is crucial to use cutting-edge technologies while creating and maintaining online travel information platforms, especially in this situation where the use of social media is at its peak. Pointing out the significant role played by the DTPCs in identifying, developing and maintaining destinations, he said the DTPCs form an important branch of the Tourism Department.

“In an age when the fast-paced growth of IT has a great influence on people, identifying its possibilities is vital to the growth of Kerala’s Tourism sector. The website not only provides information about the tourism attractions in each area but also facilitates navigation for visitors,” Shri Riyas said.

The 'Find on the Map' feature, which connects tourism centers in each district with Google Maps, makes navigation easier for travellers. Furthermore, the website's linkage structure supports online services required by travellers. Tourists can use this to get weather information about each tourist attraction. The DTPC web pages are also linked to the main Kerala Tourism website.

Kerala Tourism Director Shri P. B. Nooh, in his welcome address, noted that the revamping of websites using the most modern technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI) has made them more accessible and appealing to travellers from around the world. The AI-powered platform allows visitors to Kerala to select appropriate holiday packages.
