The longest cantilever glass bridge in the country is now open at Vagamon. The Tourism Minister P. A. Mohamed Riyas who inaugurated the glass bridge said that adventure tourism can make a huge impact on the entire tourism sector.

"It is a matter of great pride that Kerala has the longest cantilever glass bridge. Adventure tourism activities are gaining popularity across the globe. The glass bridge at Vagamon has already become a trend. The projects being implemented in association with public sector enterprises, co-operative institutions, private firms and individuals are getting good response," Riyas said.

He added that tourism in Idukki will grow by leaps and bounds if more private investment is brought into the tourism sector. "There are many tourism destinations in various local bodies. Destination challenge was organised to promote such destinations. A project to set up a comfort station at Vagamon will be implemented on war footing," said Riyas.

The glass bridge at Kolahalamedu offers a panoramic view of the nearby locations. The 40-m-long bridge has been constructed with glass imported from Germany. At a time, 15 persons can enter the bridge which is located at a height of 3600 feet above the sea level. An adventure park was also opened to the public by the minister. The park features facilities like sky swing, sky cycling, sky roller, giant swing, rocket injector, zipline, etc.
