India Today Conclave Showcases Kerala's Achievements in Tourism Sector

Kerala Tourism partnered with the India Today Group to organise the India Today South Conclave 2023 in Thiruvananthapuram. The conclave showcased the activities undertaken by Kerala to promote the state's unique regional products in the world market as `Kerala Brand’ and bring to the limelight the specific products that have received the Geographical Indication tag (GI tag). The GI tag had been granted to those products that incorporate and reflect the state's unique, regional and geographical features and regional traditional qualities.

The forum offered a platform to unite the voices of the southern states and push their causes that promote culture, polity, entertainment and investment growth in line with the socio-economic development agendas of the state and the centre. The conclave turned out to be a gathering of the best minds in politics, economics, business, tourism and administration, security affairs and social issues, science and arts from across the country.

Speaking at the conclave, the Tourism Minister Shri P. A. Mohamed Riyas said that Kerala showed resilience and bounced back from the adverse situation caused by the pandemic. He also spoke about the future of tourism in God's Own Country. “God's Own Country has been featured in the list of 52 countries to go in 2023 by The New York Times. In addition, Kerala has been declared the best wedding destination in 2022, by the magazine Travel + Leisure,” he said.

Shri Mohamed Riyas also said that Kerala Tourism is planning to conduct an investors’ meet. He said the state is in the process of introducing a design policy which is applicable for tourism as well as public works and infrastructure and development.
