Open Gyms to come up at Tourist Destinations in State

The Sports and Youth Affairs department and Tourism department will set up open gyms at tourist destinations in Kerala. Travellers will now get an opportunity to work out against some of the most scenic backdrops of God's Own Country.

Vacations are often considered a time to “recharge” and the open gyms will pave the way for leisure-cum-fitness trips, keeping in mind the tourists’ preferences for healthier activities even while they are on holiday.

For each gym, the government has approved Rs 20 lakhs, and the first set of outdoor fitness equipment will come up at seven specific places. In the first phase, the open gyms will come up at locations such as Muzhappilangad beach which was featured among the top six best beaches for driving in the world, Beypore beach and Sarovaram in Kannur, Kottakunnu/Tanur in Malappuram, Fort Kochi/Marine Drive, Raja Kesavadas swimming pool near the Alappuzha Lighthouse, and the scenic Kanakakunnu Palace grounds in Thiruvananthapuram.
