RT Society to usher in more Projects & extra Assistance to Units: Kerala Tourism Minister

After Responsible Tourism Mission becomes an independent society under the Department of Tourism, it will be able to implement more projects and provide enhanced financial assistance to RT units, Tourism Minister Mr P. A. Mohamed Riyas has said. As a society, the RT Mission will be able to implement projects with the assistance of other organizations and tap into the corporate social responsibility funds as well, the minister said in the state assembly.

Cultural-exchange programmes and microenterprises can be implemented and financial assistance rolled out to units, thereby increasing employment opportunities, he said.

An action plan has been prepared to develop new RT destinations, the minister said. The STREET (Sustainable, tangible, responsible, experiential, ethnic tourism hubs) project will be nourished to transform them into tourism centres.

The RT declaration announced at the Global RT Summit will propel RT activities at the grassroots level and bring benefits to the local people.
