Kerala Tourism’s Roadshows in the US receive Voluminous Response
Kerala Tourism organized a series of roadshows in the well-known cities of New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco to significantly boost its efforts to entice tourists from the USA. Each event received a resoundingly positive reaction from the attendees.
The official delegation was led by Kerala Tourism Principal Secretary Mr K. S. Srinivas who gave presentations in the three cities, highlighting new tourism offerings, internationally renowned attractions, and initiatives under the Responsible Tourism programmes that visitors would experience in the state.
The main guest at the New York roadshow was Mr Randhir Jaiswal, consul general of the Indian Consulate in New York, and Mr V. Senthur Kumaran, assistant director of India Tourism, also attended.
The main guest at the San Francisco gathering was Dr T.V. Nagendra Prasad, Consul General of the Indian Consulate in San Francisco, California. Also held in each of the three towns was a “Go Kerala” competition.
“We have made concerted efforts to broaden the range of tourism products and events that would be appealing to all kinds of travellers, be the backpackers or high-end shoppers, who would also like to engage in adventure tourism and explore uncharted territories. We are encouraged by the substantial buyer attendance at all of the roadshows in American locations," said Mr Srinivas. “The United States has been a big market for us, and roadshows like this help us attract tourists from there.”
Prominent Keralan businesses like CGH Earth, Alhind Tours and Travels, Cosima Holidays India, Pioneer Personalized Holidays, Kairali Ayurvedic Healing Village, and Somatheeram Ayurveda Group were represented in the group.
According to 2019 data, the USA came in second place in terms of tourist arrivals to Kerala with a total of 1,09,859, while their arrivals in India as a whole totalled 15,12,032.
