Kerala Tourism Ads on London Buses Create a Buzz
Kerala Tourism has gone global with its advertising campaigns. Commuters in London were in for a treat in the midst of their daily hustle-bustle as they saw their iconic double-decker buses and tube stations across the city emblazoned with glimpses of the Great Backwaters of Kerala. The stickers that adorned the busy London streets also bore the official Kerala Tourism logo.
The ad. campaign received widespread attention when a 13-year-old Malayalee boy who resides in London, Ryan Ambattu, shared a video of the ad. featured on a city bus via his Instagram account, @ryan.ambattu.manathoor. The video, in which the boy went around London streets singing a Malayalam song as he captured the ad. Campaign, quickly went viral on social media and garnered a whopping 4.6 million views on Instagram alone. Ryan said in a subsequent social media post that he is proud to be a Malayalee and that he is proud to promote Kerala Tourism.
Mr P. A. Mohamed Riyas, Minister for Tourism, Kerala, also joined the online celebrations by sharing the video across all his social media handles. According to the minister’s office, aggressive promotional campaigns have been launched throughout Europe to attract foreign tourists to Kerala. Apart from the advertisements displayed on the London buses, static displays have also been put up in the tube stations of London.
