Kerala Tourism’s Guest Houses to get Facelift

The guest houses managed by the Kerala Tourism Department are all set for significant upgrades, these projects aim to enhance and modernize the amenities at these prime properties, ensuring a more comfortable and enjoyable experience for visitors.

One of the key projects is the interior furnishing of a new block at the Ponmudi guest house located at a scenic location known for its natural beauty. This renovation, is scheduled for completion by December this year. This upgrade aims to enhance the guest experience, making it more appealing to tourists.

In Kozhikode, the Yathri Nivas guest house will undergo extensive renovations. These improvements will modernize the facility, ensuring it meets contemporary standards, and provides high-quality accommodation for visitors. Similarly, the Yathri Nivas in Devikulam, which was opened in 2014, will receive a makeover which includes the renovation of the building, office room exterior, kitchen, staff room, electrification and landscaping, which will significantly improve the overall infrastructure.

Another substantial project involves the heritage wing at the Kollam guest house. This conservation, repair and restoration initiative, is expected to be completed within 18 months. It will preserve the historical significance of the property while upgrading its facilities to provide a more comfortable stay for guests.

The iconic Kerala House in Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu, will also see major renovations. Given the property's prominence, these upgrades will ensure that it continues to serve as a prime destination for tourists. This project is also slated for completion within 18 months.

The Tourism Minister Shri P. A. Mohamed Riyas highlighted the importance of these renovations, noting that these prime properties attract a steady stream of visitors. "The renovation project will add new features and make the stay in these guest houses more comfortable and pleasant," he said. He assured that all projects would be completed within their respective timeframes.

Additionally, a new building for a staff room and a car parking-cum-drivers’ room will be constructed at the guest house in Kozhikode. This project, is expected to be completed within 12 months.

These extensive renovation efforts underscore Kerala's commitment to improving its tourism infrastructure, ensuring that guests have access to high-quality accommodations and services.
