Kerala Tourism has made a memorable mark at the World Travel Market (WTM) 2024 in London, presenting the state’s cultural richness and tourism initiatives under the theme “A Wonderful World.” WTM, the premier global travel trade fair, provided a vital platform for Kerala to connect with international buyers and sellers, particularly targeting the United Kingdom, a major source market for the state.
The Kerala Pavilion, spread across 110 square meters, showcased live performances of traditional art forms such as Kathakali and Mohiniyattam, captivating audiences with the state’s vibrant heritage. Eleven key tourist enterprises from Kerala participated, including Ayurvedic resorts, hotels, tour operators, and a houseboat service provider. Notable names included Kerala Tourism Development Corporation, Abad Hotels and UDS Group of Hotels, offering a comprehensive glimpse into the state’s diverse tourist offerings.
Shri P. A. Mohamed Riyas, Minister, Kerala Tourism, expressed confidence that the event would enhance Kerala’s appeal as a year-round travel destination. He highlighted the introduction of innovative tourism circuits and attractions aimed at drawing more visitors from the U.K. The platform provides valuable opportunities for partnerships, which are expected to greatly enhance foreign tourist arrivals in the upcoming season.
The Indian High Commissioner to the U.K., Shri Vikram K. Doraiswamy, inaugurated the Kerala Pavilion, which received prominent visitors such as the Goa Tourism Minister Shri Rohan Khaunte and the Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Smt. Pravati Parida. The pavilion’s unique blend of culture and innovation underscored Kerala’s evolving role in India’s tourism landscape.
With the trade fair spanning three days, Kerala expects to leverage meaningful interactions and collaborations to strengthen its position in global tourism markets, reaffirming its status as a top destination for culture, wellness and unique travel experiences.
