Kerala Tourism Launches 'Revisit Wayanad' Campaign to Boost Tourism Post-Landslides

Kerala Tourism has launched the 'Revisit Wayanad' campaign to restore tourist confidence after the recent landslides that impacted a small portion of the district. Despite the localized nature of the calamity, it caused widespread cancellations, affecting tourism throughout Wayanad. The campaign aims to showcase Wayanad as a safe, beautiful destination and reignite interest in its natural charm. By promoting Wayanad’s scenic landscapes, lush greenery and serene environment, the initiative seeks to attract both domestic and international travellers, assuring them that the district is open and ready to welcome visitors.

The 'Revisit Wayanad' campaign will be a centrepiece of Kerala’s tourism promotion efforts in business-to-business (B2B) meetings across India. As part of these efforts, Kerala Travel Mart (KTM) 2024 will emphasize Wayanad’s recovery, drawing attention to its untapped tourism potential. This event, which brings together domestic and international buyers, will play a crucial role in marketing Wayanad as a prime destination. The social media campaign 'Ente Keralam Ennum Sundaram' (My Kerala is Ever Beautiful) also supports this initiative, boosting Wayanad’s visibility by highlighting its scenic beauty.

Tour operators, resorts and homestays have already begun reopening, actively promoting Wayanad as a top travel spot. Local businesses are participating in new campaigns designed to draw tourists back, focusing on the district's adventure tourism offerings, including trekking, wildlife safaris and cultural tours. Neighbouring states like Karnataka, from where a significant number of tourists come, are being specially targeted in these promotions.

With ongoing marketing efforts and support from tourism partners, Kerala Tourism is committed to reviving Wayanad’s status as one of the state’s premier destinations. The campaign not only seeks to boost the local economy but also reassures travellers that Wayanad remains a picturesque and safe choice for their next getaway.
