A recent global survey by travel major Skyscanner has ranked Kerala’s capital, Thiruvananthapuram, as the 10th most popular place to visit in 2025. The survey, conducted by the Edinburgh-based flight and accommodation booking platform, revealed a 66% increase in flight searches for the city between January 1, 2024 and June 30, 2024, compared to the same period in 2023.
Thiruvananthapuram joins an elite list of trending global destinations, with the south Italian seaside city of Reggio Calabria claiming the top spot, followed by Tartu in Estonia and Siem Reap in Cambodia. The rankings are based on significant increases in search activity over the past year.
According to the survey, Thiruvananthapuram remains a preferred destination for travellers seeking health and wellness experiences, often referred to as ‘Reset Jetters.’ Its tranquil surroundings, balmy climate and cultural richness contribute to its reputation as one of the most serene and beautiful parts of India.
Shri P. A. Mohamed Riyas, Minister, Kerala Tourism, welcomed the recognition, highlighting how Kerala’s innovative tourism initiatives are resonating with modern travellers. “In today’s world, tourists prioritize health and wellness packages in addition to leisure activities. Kerala offers a perfect blend of heritage, culture and natural beauty, providing visitors with a unique experience,” he said.
Skyscanner analyzed over a thousand data points to compile its list of trending travel destinations. The survey also indicates a growing trend among UK travellers to explore alternative destinations beyond mainstream European locales.
The other cities featured in the top 10 list include Baltimore (USA), Portsmouth (Dominica), Cordoba (Spain), Tromsø (Norway), Panglao, Bohol (the Philippines), and Stuttgart (Germany).
Skyscanner’s app and website are used by over 100 million people globally, making it a significant player in shaping travel trends worldwide.
