TIM Projects to be Completed in a Timely Manner

Published in Newsletter Issue No. 366 - February 2024

A single-window system will be implemented to complete all Tourism Investors Meet (TIM) projects in a timely manner. A facilitation centre has started to function at the Department of Tourism by January 25 to fast-track the project, and a web portal will be opened by February 10 for the purpose, Tourism Minister Mr P. A. Mohamed Riyas said while presiding over a review meeting at the state capital.

Projects of 19 new investors have been shortlisted by the tourism department for fast-track implementation.  These were among the projects submitted at the investor's meet held in the state in November last year, aiming at driving investment opportunities in the state.

A Project Monitoring Committee will be formed under the Tourism Secretary to assess the progress of the TIM projects, and remove the identified bottlenecks.

A nodal officer will be appointed for the investors to contact and implement the projects, and those projects that can be easily implemented will be identified first.

A Project Management Centre is set to open, accompanied by the formation of a Project Execution Team to accelerate the projects. Additionally, it was agreed at the meeting to conduct bi-weekly review sessions at the department level and monthly reviews at the government level.

Tourism Secretary Mr K.  Biju said these projects on government-held and private lands would be listed separately.

The Department is committed to furnishing entrepreneurs with all essential amenities for undertaking tourism projects on their privately-owned lands.

A list of tourism projects, proposed on government lands, will be compiled, an Expression of Interest (EOI) floated, and the selected project after feasibility assessment based on a common Request for Proposal (RFP), implemented.

As per the Tourism Secretary's directions, these projects will be shifted to a single-window system for timely completion, and a meeting will be called with the industries department to implement a single-window system for the TIM projects.

The Additional Director of Tourism (General) has been appointed as Convener of TIM Facilitation Centre and the Chairman of KTIL as Co-Convenor.
