Vice President's Visit Highlights Kerala's Natural and Technological Wonders

In July 2024, the Vice President of India, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, embarked on a visit to Kerala, where he experienced the state's mesmerizing backwaters and celebrated its achievements in space science. His visit highlighted the dual appeal of Kerala, both as a haven of natural beauty and a centre for scientific advancement.

The Vice President's journey began with a tour of the scenic Kollam and Ashtamudi backwaters. He was hugely impressed by the lush green landscapes and serene waters, calling them "captivating, enchanting, and ever-inviting."   These iconic backwaters, with their tranquil beauty, underscore Kerala's potential as a top-tier tourist destination. The Vice President's remarks brought attention to the state's rich natural heritage and its potential for tourism.

The primary purpose of Vice President Dhankhar's visit was to attend the 12th convocation ceremony of the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST) at the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) in Thiruvananthapuram.  Gracing the function as the Chief Guest, he presented the Institute’s Medal of Excellence to meritorious students, recognizing their academic achievements and encouraging their future contributions to India's space endeavours.

In his address at the convocation, Vice President Dhankhar underscored the importance of education and innovation in propelling India's space sector forward. He highlighted the role of institutions like IIST in fostering a culture of scientific inquiry and technological advancement. The Vice President's presence at the ceremony celebrated the graduates' hard work and dedication, while also showcasing Kerala's significant contributions to space science and technical education.

The Vice President's visit also emphasized Kerala's unique position as a natural paradise. The enchanting backwaters exemplify the state's diverse appeal.

The dual allure positions Kerala as an ideal destination for both tourists and scholars, reflecting its rich cultural heritage and progressive outlook.  Kerala continues to captivate visitors with its beauty and inspire with its educational achievements, and this heritage solidifies its reputation as a land of infinite possibilities.
