Vice President's Visit Highlights Kerala's Natural and Technological Wonders
In July 2024, the Vice President of India, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, embarked on a visit to Kerala, where he experienced the state's mesmerizing backwaters and celebrated its achievements in space science. The Vice President's journey began with a tour of the scenic Kollam and Ashtamudi backwaters. The primary purpose of Vice President Dhankhar's visit was to attend the 12th convocation ceremony of the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST) at the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) in Thiruvananthapuram. Gracing the function as the Chief Guest, he presented the Institute’s Medal of Excellence to meritorious students, recognizing their academic achievements and encouraging their future contributions to India's space endeavours.
In his address at the convocation, Vice President Dhankhar underscored the importance of education and innovation in propelling India's space sector forward. He highlighted the role of institutions like IIST in fostering a culture of scientific inquiry and technological advancement.
