High Hopes for Wellness Tourism Stakeholders in Alappuzha
With an above-average monsoon being predicted this year, the wellness tourism stakeholders in Alappuzha have their hopes high for a good Karkadakam season. The last month of the Malayalam calendar is called Karkadakam. This usually falls during July-August when the monsoon enters its last stages in Kerala. Traditionally in Kerala this time is believed to be the most ideal for undergoing Ayurvedic body rejuvenation therapies as the body is the most receptive.
Foreign tourists, during their winter seasons, seek out Kerala mainly for wellness treatments which involve authentic medical treatments alongside strict dietary and lifestyle regimens that can last anywhere between days to weeks.
Mr Sajeev Kurup, President of Kerala Ayurveda Promotion Society, points out how the prediction of an above-average monsoon and the increased global awareness of Ayurveda and its benefits are sure to draw a much larger number of tourists to the state this year. The picturesque locale of Alappuzha and the great backwaters are an added attraction for all visitors to the land.
