The fourth edition of the Beypore International Water Fest ended on a high note, offering an exhilarating mix of adventure sports, cultural performances, and innovative attractions. Organized by Kerala Tourism along with the District Tourism Promotion Council and Adventure Tourism Promotion Society, the two-day event was held across scenic locations in Beypore, Chaliyam, and Nallur, underscoring Kerala's potential as a premier global tourism destination.
The festival opened with an awe-inspiring air show by the Indian Air Force’s Sarang aerobatic team, marking the first aerial display in the fest’s history. The skies over Beypore came alive as four HAL Dhruv helicopters performed precision manoeuvres, including their iconic ‘love’ symbol formation, leaving spectators amazed. Paragliding stunts, jet skiing demonstrations, and surfing events added to the high-energy start. An international kite-flying competition further brightened the skies, with imaginative designs like flying horses and dragons capturing the audience’s attention. A choreographed drone show, set to music, rounded off the first day with a dazzling display of creativity and innovation.
Cultural programs infused the festival with celebratory spirit, featuring performances by renowned playback singers K.S. Harishankar, Jyotsna Radhakrishnan, and Vineeth Sreenivasan. Their musical renditions brought crowds to their feet, creating a lively and memorable atmosphere. Competitions in kayaking and bait fishing were met with enthusiastic participation, with local resident Suhail taking top honours in the bait contest with a catch weighing 970 grams.
The festival’s grand finale included public tours of Coast Guard and Navy ships, including INS Kabra and ICGS Anagh, providing visitors with a rare glimpse into maritime operations. Special arrangements were made for 55 differently-abled students and their families, who received a warm welcome from Kozhikode Mayor Smt Beena Philip, adding a heart-warming touch to the event.
During the valedictory ceremony, Kerala Tourism Minister Shri. P. A. Mohammed Riyas praised the festival's success and reaffirmed Kerala's commitment to hosting world-class events. “This festival celebrates Kerala’s unity and sends a message of positivity and inclusivity to the world,” he said. The closing concert by singer-actor Vineeth Sreenivasan brought the festivities to a rousing end, leaving the audience energized and eager for next year’s edition.
The Beypore International Water Fest has cemented its place as a flagship event in Kerala’s tourism calendar, offering a unique blend of adventure, culture, and community spirit. With promises of an even grander spectacle in the future, the festival has set a new benchmark for tourism excellence, further enhancing Kerala’s reputation as a must-visit destination for travellers from around the globe.
