Published in Newsletter Issue No. 379 - March 2025

The KAVA Eco Camp and Caravan Park, Kerala’s first fully integrated hybrid caravan park, has been inaugurated at Manthuruthy, Malampuzha, near Palakkad. This pioneering initiative aims to revamp the state’s tourism sector by offering a unique blend of eco-friendly travel, adventure experiences and a premium wedding destination. Shri. P. A. Mohamed Riyas, Minister, Kerala Tourism, who inaugurated the park, emphasized that the project aligns with Kerala’s Caravan Tourism Policy, offering ample opportunities for startups and promoting sustainable travel. The long-anticipated caravan tourism project is now a reality, providing a model for future investments in the sector.

The KAVA Eco Camp and Caravan Park is designed with state-of-the-art facilities while maintaining a commitment to sustainability. The park features facilities for six large caravans and six camper vans, electric charging points for cars and scooters, a 24-hour coffee shop and ten well-equipped tourist rooms. To ensure an eco-friendly approach, the park has a sewage treatment plant, facilities for drinking water, laundry services, a dormitory for drivers, a restaurant, and a swimming pool.

Tourists at KAVA Eco Camp can engage in adventure and cultural activities, including cycle and jeep safaris that allow them to explore the stunning landscapes of Malampuzha. Guests can also interact with local communities, share traditional meals, visit cottage industries and purchase local handicrafts, contributing to the local economy and responsible tourism initiatives. This initiative not only enhances Kerala’s eco-tourism and adventure tourism offerings but also creates employment and business opportunities for local entrepreneurs.

One of the key objectives of the project is to position Kerala as a premium wedding destination, attracting couples looking for unique and scenic locations for their special day. Additionally, the park is being developed to serve as a platform for launching seaplanes in Malampuzha, further expanding its tourism appeal.

Sajeev Kurup, Managing Director of Ayurvedamana and owner of KAVA Eco Camp and Caravan Park, stated that the project will revitalise Kerala’s tourism industry and set a model for future caravan parks across the state. With increasing interest from investors, KAVA Eco Camp serves as a benchmark for Kerala’s Caravan Tourism Policy, ensuring a sustainable, immersive and eco-friendly tourism experience.
