Kerala has secured the second position in the ‘10 Most Welcoming Regions in India’ category at the 13th annual Traveller Review Awards by global travel booking platform Booking.com. The awards recognise destinations worldwide that consistently deliver exceptional hospitality and memorable travel experiences, based on over 360 million verified customer reviews. Kerala improved its ranking from third place last year, further solidifying its reputation as a top tourism destination in India.
Additionally, Mararikulam, Thekkady and Alappuzha were featured in the top 10 ‘Most Welcoming Cities in India’, with Mararikulam achieving the second position. Within the state, Munnar and Varkala were also recognized as ‘Most Welcoming Cities,’ showcasing Kerala’s diverse offerings ranging from pristine beaches and serene backwaters to lush hill stations and vibrant cultural experiences.
Shri P. A. Mohamed Riyas, Minister, Kerala Tourism, stated that this recognition reaffirms Kerala’s position as a unique and sought-after travel destination. He highlighted that, beyond Kerala’s professional hospitality, the state’s scenic landscapes, rich heritage, and immersive cultural experiences continue to attract visitors from across the globe. He emphasised that the honor would further propel Kerala Tourism’s efforts to make a strong mark on the global tourism map.

Biju, Secretary, Kerala Tourism, noted that the awards reflect Kerala’s growing appeal among international and domestic travelers, positioning the state as a perfect choice for those seeking tranquility, adventure and a blend of relaxation and excitement. Smt Sikha Surendran, Director, Kerala Tourism, attributed the honor to the innovative initiatives and sustainable tourism projects implemented in the state, ensuring Kerala remains aligned with evolving global travel trends and the preferences of modern travelers.
In India, 15,674 hospitality partners received recognition in the 2025 Traveller Review Awards, with 7,919 properties listed under the ‘Homes’ category—showcasing a rise in demand for alternative accommodation options beyond traditional hotels. Hotels remained the most popular choice, with 5,709 awardees, followed by homestays (2,438), apartments (1,651), resorts (1,172), and guest houses (1,160). The trend reflects a growing traveler preference for unique, personalized stays that offer immersive local experiences.
With this recognition, Kerala continues to strengthen its position as a premier travel destination, ensuring that visitors experience world-class hospitality in a setting that seamlessly blends natural beauty, tradition and modernity.
