Kerala Tourism has taken a significant step to enhance pilgrim tourism by launching a dedicated multilingual microsite (https://www.keralatourism.org/sabarimala/) and a comprehensive e-brochure for Sabarimala, southern India’s prominent pilgrimage destination. The initiatives were inaugurated by the Tourism and Public Works Minister Shri P. A. Mohamed Riyas at a function held in Thiruvananthapuram.
The newly-launched microsite, available in English, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Kannada, provides pilgrims with vital information about the hill shrine’s traditions, customs and culture. It also offers updates, geographical insights and a detailed route map, ensuring a seamless and enriching pilgrimage experience. A short video footage on the platform highlights the spiritual and cultural significance of Sabarimala, making it a valuable resource for pilgrims across India.
Emphasizing the growing importance of pilgrim tourism worldwide, the minister Mr Riyas said, “The microsite and e-brochure are essential steps in showcasing our heritage and historical temples as part of tourism. These platforms will provide pilgrims with credible and detailed information about Sabarimala, helping them plan their journey comfortably and securely. More projects are in the pipeline to encourage pilgrim tourism in the state.”
The content-rich e-brochure acts as a virtual travel guide, offering details about pilgrimage planning and contact numbers for authorities. The mobile-friendly format of the brochure ensures accessibility for pilgrims on smartphones, and makes it easy to share with others.
The microsite, designed and developed by Invis Pvt. Ltd., Kerala Tourism’s official ICT Solution Provider, further highlights nearby temples and other essential facilities, helping pilgrims explore the region comprehensively. A dedicated photo gallery adds to the resourcefulness of the platform.
The Tourism Director Smt. Sikha Surendran described the microsite and e-brochure as credible and user-friendly tools for pilgrims. “These platforms will help pilgrims across the country plan their journey safely while gaining deeper insights into the traditions and culture of Sabarimala,” she added.
With these initiatives, Kerala Tourism continues to position itself as a leader in promoting pilgrim tourism, ensuring pilgrims have a hassle-free and spiritually-fulfilling experience at Sabarimala.
