A ritual in which a performer who acts as a Kaniyan (astrologer) performs the prasnam (astrological calculation) is ritual of Pooppada. A boy with his head covered with a cloth, holding a Pookkula (arecanut flower) in hand is brought to the Kalam. He dances to the songs accompanied by Udukku and Maddalam (two percussion instruments). A comic interlude of Konan or Vidushaka is also performed along with this.
