Spice fests are organized at Kumily to attract tourists as well as to give an impetus to the spice trade here. During the fest, the whole town is decorated and the spice stores, trading centres and related shops will be bustling with activities. There will be a wide variety of spices stored at these centres and the enchanting aroma of the spices lingers in the air. The spice fest is, more than anything else, a shopping festival.
Other projects
The Spices Board is also coming up with a cardamom complex in Puttady to give a boost to the spice sector. The complex will have e-auctioning and storage facilities for cardamom and pepper as well as facilities for treating the produce to make it suitable for exports.
