A thriving ecosystem, Aayiramthengu in Kollam district features a vast spread of mangroves. The Department of Fisheries maintains this ecosystem which was restored from the brink of extinction only a few years ago. The lush green cover is home to a colony of otters, a school of fish and a variety of migratory birds.
