Arattupuzha Pooram

One of the oldest temple festivals of God’s Own Country, Arattupuzha Pooram is a visual extravaganza that spreads festive hues all around the State. Considered to be the Mother of all Pooram festivals of Kerala, the fest of the Sree Sastha Temple of Thrissur witnesses the showcasing of caparisoned tuskers with men atop engaged in the ceremonial display of Muthukudas (sequined umbrellas) and Venchamarams (white tufts) and performances of traditional percussions. The festival is popularly known as “Devamela” because of a unique ritual in which the deities from 23 nearby temples are brought together to the temple.
