The largest earthen dam in India, Banasura Sagar Dam in Wayanad district is aimed at supporting the Kakkayam Hydro Electric Power Project and catering to the demand for irrigation and drinking water in the region. A boating amid pristine surroundings and a host of hidden trekking trails have made Banasura Sagar Dam popular among the tourist destinations in the district.
