Kettukazhcha

Kettukazhcha is a mode of paying utmost faith to a deity, expressed by people belonging to a particular geographical division. The picture for the month depicts one such unique Kettukazhcha that is being taken to the Kadavur Temple in Kollam, via the backwater. A tower like structure; a symbolic offering to the deity is erected, adorned with brilliant colours and is placed in the middle of two traditional country boats. Devotees accompany the Kettukazcha up to the temple in other boats. The Kettukazcha will also bear the details of the geographical region represented by it.
