Kodungalloor Bharani

Kodungalloor Bharani is the annual festival of Sree Kurumba Bhagavathy Temple at Kodungalloor in Thrissur. The festival offers a mystical experience with the presence of a multitude of Oracles (Komaram or Velichappadu) clad in red attires that fill the temple premises in a trance stage with blood dripping from their foreheads. The Bharani festival celebrates the birth of Bhadrakali (Hindu Goddess) who as per legend was born from the third eye of Lord Shiva and was the one who went to destroy the demon Darika.
