Mattupetty

Mattupetty

A quaint hill station nestling in the foothills of Anamudi, the highest peak in the Western Ghats, Mattupetty is a tourist hotspot in Idukki district. The scenic locale is 12 km from the Munnar Top Station along the Munnar – Vattavada road. Mattupetty Dam, constructed towards the end of the 1940s as part of the Pallivasal Hydro-electric project is a popular picnic spot. Exuberant tea plantations on one side, plush green shola forests on the other; there is a good chance that you will spot elephants and wild deers during the journey. If you need to indulge in some adventure, then ride the placid waters in the speed boats and Pontoon boats.
