Onapottan- A unique Folk Art Character
The most celebrated festival of God’s Own Country is Onam. Onam brings together a multitude of colours and arts. One such folk art character generally appears in North Kerala region is Onapottan. He is also referred to as Onathar or Oneshwaran. With vibrant costume and heavy headgear, Onapottan visits every household during Onam season and showers his blessings. He holds a bell in one hand and a palm leaf umbrella (Olakkuda) in the other.
