The dam, constructed across the Siruvani River in the northern district of Palakkad is flanked by reserve forests. There is a Muthikulam hill on the eastern side of the dam, where the natural waterfall from the hill accentuates its beauty. You can find wonderful trekking trails in the surrounding forests and the dam and reservoir are also ideal picnic spots.
