Malayalam month of Thulam (October-November) ushers in a season of great storytelling with the beginning of Theyyam season in the state. Originated in North Kerala, a Theyyam performance encompasses dance, mime and music. The ceremonial dance is accompanied by such musical instruments as Chenda, Elathalam, Kurumkuzal and Veekkuchenda.
