Once a legendary maritime hub for traders across the world, Beypore in Kozhikode district has a tradition of building the iconic Uru (Dhow) dating back to over 1,500 years. These creations by traditional artisans called Khalasis are highly prized for their exquisite and sturdy nature. Tourists visiting the town come to see the making of these gigantic vessels by expert craftsmen.
