Kozhikode

Kozhikode is considered by many to be the crown jewel of Northern Kerala. Its tranquil beaches, mouth-watering cuisine, and intrinsic bonds with the fabled Zamorin dynasty make it an absolutely mesmerizing location to visit. It is here that Vasco-da-Gama first landed and the legendary Spice Route came into existence. The Responsible Tourism (RT) Mission here helps travelers explore the wide range of tourist destinations and activities on offer.

The quaint hamlets of Kozhikode eagerly wish to serenade you with tales of their history, culture, cuisine and unique means of livelihood. Experience first-hand the daily routine of villagers, as you witness fishermen start extruding lime shells or catch fish using traditional methods.

Watch the legendary art of metal crafting, as the RT initiative lets you meet and greet the craftsmen and discover the secrets of their artform.

Join hands with the locals and let them guide you through the less explored rural landscapes. The villagers showcase you the weaving of coconut leaves, the process of capturing crabs, making of the golden fiber-coir and much more.

Kozhikode is home to a thriving lineage of delicious cuisine. Leaving these parts without trying their local delicacies would be a travesty.

The subtle beauty of the backwaters and the vast stretch of mangroves are the other major attractions here. A laid-back cruise through these is a wonderful way to escape the rigors of urban life.

Visit Kozhikode, and let your senses be overwhelmed with joy at its legendary charm.
