Garudan Thookkam

Garudan Thookkam or Eagle hanging is a unique artform prevalent in the Kali temples of Kerala. In this ritual, people dress up like Garuda (eagle) dance to the tune of percussions at first. Then these Garuda’s are pierced at their back with hooks and are carried around the temple for the blessing of the deity.
