Tourism Resource Mapping is a process to find out new tourism destinations in Kerala. It starts with special tourism grama sabhas. Through this RT Mission expects to document the attractions, potential and products of a destination with the support of RT Resource Persons to make a local Tourism Resource Directory.
Responsible Tourism Mission in association with the Department of Local Self Government creates local tourism directories of selected places. 14 places will be selected per year and this commences from the economic year 2018-19. This process results in finding 14 new tourism locations so that these can be developed.
Following are the places selected during 2017-18.
1) Perinadu
2) Munroe Island
3) Calicut District- Olavanna and Kadalundi Panchayat – Jalayagnam Project area
4) Vattavada
5) Ponmudi
6) Thiruvarppu
Special Tourism Grama Sabha meetings were held in Thiruvarppu for the same. Operations in other locations will begin in March. The operations are expected to be completed by the month of May. Rupees 15 lakhs will be spent on the same this year.
